Sjef van Baal lezing: Robert Fitridge - Development of enhanced telehealth to provide multi-disciplinary care to rural, remote and First Nations people with diabetes-related foot complications.
Prof. Robert FitridgeTheater
People living in Australia in rural and remote locations and First Nations people are more likely to have diabetes and foot complications, including amputations. Access to timely multi-disciplinary care is key to reducing foot complications. Telemedicine has the potential to provide this care but has been limited by multiple factors including image quality and security, communication between the “Hub” team and the clinicians and patient at the remote site, and challenges obtaining adequate diagnostic information to make appropriate decisions via traditional telehealth technology.
Technologically-enhanced telehealth and AI techniques to evaluate wound images has the potential to dramatically improve telehealth from a diagnostic and decision-making perspective, and enhance patient and clinician satisfaction.
