[YI-14] Objective assessment of footwear fit using pressure analysis in people with diabetes at high foot ulcer risk

drs. Isabella GiganteTheater

This presentation will present a cross-sectional study assessing dorsal, medial and lateral footwear fit in people with diabetes at moderate-to-high risk of foot ulceration. Using the novel pedar®-X system with a pad, peak pressures at non-plantar foot regions were measured during walking. Participants were classified based on the presence of clinical signs of footwear misfit. The presentation will discuss how objective pressure measurements relate to clinically observed fit problems and their potential to support footwear assessment. As the first study to objectively assess non-plantar footwear fit in this population, the findings highlight the potential of pressure measurement to support clinical footwear assessment in non-plantar areas
